Heather and I recently decided to have a date night at Brewery Bhavana. We hadn’t been in over two years! On a whim, we looked at their website and they had a reservation so we grabbed it.
Brewery Bhavana is located in the heart of Downtown Raleigh off of Blount Street. They specialize in Asian cuisine. They have a great atmosphere with dim lighting, an impressive marble bar, and a very knowledgeable serving staff. What really makes this restaurant one of a kind is having a bookstore and flower shop within it. Also, true to their namesake, they are a craft beer brewery. I’ve tried a few of the beers and I am a fan!
For dinner, we decided to stick with dim sum throughout the entire meal instead of ordering entrees so we could sample more of their food. Dim Sum means “touch of heart” in Chinese which historically started as “welcoming bites” served in tea houses along Silk Street in China. At Brewery Bhavana, their dim sum basically means snacks or appetizer size dishes. As you can see from our picture, we tried quite a few for our blog research of course! Our favorites were the Vegetable Curry Puffs which had curried vegetables packed into a delicious puff pastry and the Xiao Long Bao dumplings which have steamed crab and pork soup inside the dumplings. Also, when you make it out to Brewery Bhavana, try the banana cake! It’s worth breaking your New Year’s resolution!
I would definitely give Brewery Bhavana a 10 out of 10. It will not be two years before I make it back for dinner! Also, insider scoop, I highly recommend making a reservation!
