Side Street

August 29, 2019

Heather and I decided to try Side Street Restaurant for lunch in the heart of the lovely Historic Oakwood neighborhood. We saw on the local news that Side Street was celebrating their 40th year anniversary and we knew we had to give it a go. I'm so glad we did. It was busy for lunch; however, we were sat right away. It was quite charming on the inside with classic, bright decorations. Heather loves a restaurant with white tablecloths, local art, and plants! This place has all of those things. The lunch menu has varieties of salads and sandwiches. All of which sounded amazing and made it hard to choose! They also have a daily soup and quiche option which I know we will be back for in the near future. I ordered the "Avocado Crush On You" Sandwich with turkey on wheat bread with a side salad and Heather ordered the Hope's Best on pumpernickel bread with a side salad as well. The house dressing is a sherry vinaigrette. The wait wasn't long for our food and WOW, we were blown away! Everything was extremely fresh and tasted amazing. We felt so silly for not having come to have lunch here much sooner. As we were leaving, we saw they have an assortment of house-made deserts which all sounded scrumptious. Also, it seems that they have a dinner service a few days a week so that will probably be another meal option we will go back for. Stop in! You won't be sorry!
